Thank you for taking the time to visit our website and find out more about the Chevaliers du Cep in Australia. We are the Australian branch (Circle) of the Universal Order which is based in Montpellier, France.
We are a French society at our heart and one of the many "Bachiques" brotherhoods throughout the world. The name extends from Bacchus who was the Roman God of Wine. He represented not only the intoxicating power of wine but also its social and beneficial influence on culture, the arts and society.
While we do not worship Bacchus, or any other god, we do believe in the positive influence of wine on culture, the arts and society. We support the wine industry, where possible, and we always promote the sensible consumption of wine.
Ours is a friendly society. We have members who are both wine professionals and amateurs. We have many different regional, national and international events available to our members. While the focus is on wine most of our social events include good food and, of course, fantastic fellowship!
